Remote setting up a Linux ET-server. (english)

  • Hi,

First of all my German isn't that good. I couldn't find any rules that prohibited posting in English.
Sorry if it is not allowed :(. (I'm from Belgium btw.)

Our clan wants to set up a 60 player Enemy Territory (public) server and we found a
good host for it. It's a dedicated server running Fedora Linux and PLESK 7.5 Reloaded.

I have a bit of experience with Linux (Debian, Knoppix) and I'm eager to learn, but I don't know how to do it/where to start. :(

It will run ETPro and all the configs are all ready (tested on a win32 LAN-server).

I have root access to the server and the best help I could find was
http://tjw.org/etded/. Can anybody help me with this, or maybe give tips?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jasper

I have no problems with english postings.

Where is your problem? You have allready found a Howto.

To connect to the rootserver you need a SSH-Client like Putty.

    Thanks for your reaction,

The Howto as described is a bit too advanced I guess .

    - I know how to set up a SSH connection with Putty
    - Got the correct files from Enemy-Territory.com using wget and put them in a (temp) map called etfiles
    - Created the basic directory structure as described on http://tjw.org/etded
    - Now I think I have to execute "et-linux-2.56-2.x86.run" and then I will find the files described under "In order to run etded, you will need to copy all of the shared object files that etded.x86 depends on to your chroot directory." But then I'm stuck.
